CRUISE DESTINATION
Bonaire
THE QUICK READ
What Bonaire adds to a cruise
Bonaire is a small, low-key island whose protected marine environment is the main event. Diving and snorkeling deserve priority, while salt flats, flamingo areas, and a compact land loop provide a strong alternative for non-divers.

CRUISE PORT
Kralendijk
A small, relaxed port prized for shore diving, snorkeling, salt flats, and compact island tours.
Make this port day work
The compact center is beside the piers. Salt flats and southern sights begin within a short drive; northern routes and Washington Slagbaai take much longer.
Reserve a golf cart or car, choose the north or south loop, and download an offline map before sailing.
Use a specialist operator for diving, snorkeling, kayaking, or Washington Slagbaai, where access and road conditions matter.
Return rentals 90 minutes before all-aboard; remote northern plans should be back in Kralendijk about two hours early.
PRACTICAL ADVICE
Plan the day before leaving home
Book the underwater day first
Small dive and snorkel operators fill early. Confirm marine-park procedures and whether equipment, transport, and a guide are included.
Choose north or south loop
A golf cart or car can cover salt flats and the southern coast or the greener northern route. Doing both can become more windshield than island.
Protect the reef
Use marked entries, never stand on coral, and follow local marine-park rules even when other visitors do not.

FINAL CHECK
Before committing to the day
- Confirm the exact berth. The destination name may conceal a remote facility, tender, or different side of the island.
- Calculate usable time.Subtract tendering, transfers, security, and a safe return margin from the published port call.
- Reserve what can sell out.Small boats, limited vehicles, timed admissions, and specialist guides deserve priority.
- Keep the return under your control.Save meeting details offline and know the backup transportation before moving away from the port.
