VIRGIN VOYAGES · LADY SHIPS

Valiant Lady

Valiant is the extrovert with good taste who also knows where the quiet terrace is.

TRAVELER FIT

Is Valiant Lady right for you?

Solo travelers

9/10

Valiant Lady is one of the strongest mainstream ships for independent adults.

PROTrue solo cabins, Gunbae communal seating, hosted Happenings, included dining, fitness, no children, and an inclusive social culture make meeting people optional rather than desperate. Ariya and the redesigned social spaces make this the strongest Lady Ship for groups and outgoing solo travelers.
CONSolo inventory is limited, restaurant booking still rewards advance planning, nightlife can make cabin location important, and single pricing outside solo rooms can be painful.

Families

1/10

Not a family ship for anyone traveling with guests under 18.

PROParents traveling only with adult children can enjoy excellent dining, nightlife, fitness, relaxed dress, and no need to coordinate children's programming.
CONGuests under 18 are not permitted, and there are no children's clubs, nursery, family cabins designed around young children, or exceptions for unusually mature seventeen-year-olds.

Couples

9/10

Valiant Lady is an outstanding couple ship for adults who prefer contemporary energy over traditional cruise ritual.

PROIncluded restaurant variety, balcony hammocks, Sip, The Dock, spa, fitness, nightlife, relaxed dress, and child-free space support both dates and independent time. Ariya and the redesigned social spaces make this the strongest Lady Ship for groups and outgoing solo travelers.
CONThe small main pool, firm beds, app-dependent dining, close restaurant tables, and high-volume party nights can undermine couples seeking quiet luxury.

Valiant Lady is the freshly rebuilt social specialist of the Virgin fleet. Her 2026 dry dock added Ariya, redesigned ten public spaces, expanded shade and ocean-facing seating at The Athletic Club, opened The Manor dance floor, improved the On the Rocks stage, strengthened The Dock against wind, converted Grounds Club Too into a nighttime bar, and launched more than twenty Happenings formats. The ship did not need rescue; it received a more coherent adult social life.

The architecture remains the familiar 110,000-ton Lady Ship plan: restaurants instead of one dining hall, a flexible Red Room, nightclub, spa, excellent gym, compact pool, smart cabins, red hammocks, and outdoor aft spaces that keep the sea visible. Valiant's changes address practical complaints about shade, seating, sightlines, and spaces that became bottlenecks. They do not create a second theater, giant observation lounge, or indoor pool.

Her vibe is more group-oriented than Scarlet's romantic flagship framing. Ariya encourages shared plates, the enlarged Manor supports real late-night dancing, On the Rocks finally lets more people see the performer, and the expanded Happenings program creates organized reasons to meet. Passengers still report that a quiet trip is possible; The Perch, Dock, spa, terrace hammocks, and port-heavy itineraries provide natural exits from the party.

The 2026 itinerary is unusually ambitious for Virgin. Mediterranean weeks lead into Portsmouth, Iceland, Greenland, Canada, New York, Bermuda, and San Juan, then Southern Caribbean loops. This rewards travelers who care about ports and overnights more than Bimini repetition. Weather changes the ship: outdoor spaces are superb in the Med and Caribbean, more conditional in Iceland and the North Atlantic, where the design lacks a traditional forward observation lounge.

Dining is Valiant's clearest current advantage. Ariya joins The Wake, Gunbae, Pink Agave, Extra Virgin, Test Kitchen, The Galley, Dock House, and included casual food without cover charges. The new Indian program is not timid cruise curry; published dishes reach from chaat to biryani and use the restaurant's shared format intentionally. Reservations remain essential because a better restaurant is also a restaurant everybody has heard about.

Choose Valiant for a friends' trip, adult family reunion, solo social cruise, Southern Caribbean itinerary, or European voyage that needs energetic nights. Avoid assuming adults-only means quiet, luxury means formal service, or Northern Europe turns a warm-weather ship into Queen Mary 2. Valiant is at her best when guests want both a destination day and a proper evening, then possess the judgment to stop before sunrise.

  • Best at: friend groups, solo social travel, modern Indian dining, nightlife, Southern Caribbean depth, and 2026 Northern European novelty.

  • Watch closely: cold-weather viewing, dining reservations, small pool, firm beds, and noise near The Manor.

  • Ship-specific reason to choose her: the fleet's freshest major redesign, Ariya, better shade, better live-music sightlines, and expanded Happenings.

The vibe

Valiant is the extrovert with good taste who also knows where the quiet terrace is. The refreshed ship feels more deliberately social than her fleetmates, not merely louder: tables encourage sharing, stages can be seen, wind no longer bullies every Dock performance, and The Manor has room to dance. She still permits an early bedtime, but she will know what you missed.

  • Best current Lady Ship for groups and organized social energy.

  • The 2026 refresh fixes practical spaces instead of only changing upholstery.

  • Port-rich San Juan and European routes reduce the pressure on the small pool.

Usual itineraries

Valiant Lady's 2026 program connects Mediterranean and Northern European cruising from Barcelona and Portsmouth with Iceland, Greenland, Canada, New York, Bermuda, and a final move to San Juan. Winter voyages focus on port-rich six- and seven-night Southern Caribbean routes to Tortola, St. Maarten, Barbados, St. Lucia, Martinique, Curaçao, Aruba, and neighboring islands. This is the fleet's broadest current mix for travelers who want nights onboard to follow serious days ashore.

DINING

Included and premium restaurants

INCLUDED WITH YOUR FARE

Ariya by Razzle Dazzle

Added in the 2026 refresh, Ariya is a 220-seat modern Indian restaurant developed with chef Maneet Chauhan and Indie Culinaire. The menu travels across India through chaat, kebabs, seafood, vegetables, lamb-shank biryani, shared mains, breads, desserts, and spice-driven cocktails. It is included and intentionally communal, making it an unusually good group and solo dining room. The concept gives Valiant the fleet's strongest current restaurant distinction rather than a cosmetic menu swap.

The Wake

The fleet's glamorous aft steak-and-seafood restaurant descends by staircase into a mid-century chophouse with wake views. Dinner centers on steaks, seafood, raw-bar dishes, vegetables, sauces, and composed starters; brunch adds eggs, Benedicts, pastries, seafood, and long-table energy. Core dishes are included, while premium cuts, shellfish towers, Champagne, and other upgrades can cost extra. The room is beautiful, tables can sit close, and the wake view disappears after dark, so sunset reservations do actual work.

Gunbae

Korean barbecue turns dinner into a social event around shared grills, drinking games, banchan, grilled meats, seafood, vegetables, rice, and dessert. Parties may be seated with other guests and the server normally leads the game, making this one of the best solo-meeting rooms and a poor hiding place for introverts seeking silent noodles. Vegetarian options exist, grill smoke is controlled rather than nonexistent, and clothing will know where dinner happened. Reserve early for groups because tables are structurally communal.

Pink Agave

A dark, stylish Mexican restaurant presents regional cooking through small and large plates, including aguachile, esquites, tamales, octopus, pork, duck, steak, and vegetable dishes according to the current menu. The mezcal and tequila program is excellent and not included with dinner. Sharing produces the most interesting meal, but portion structure confuses guests expecting one appetizer and one entrée. It is sophisticated Mexican dining, not a taco counter wearing expensive lighting.

Extra Virgin

The Italian trattoria serves antipasti, handmade pasta, seafood, meat, vegetables, affogato, and a tableside-style dessert trolley or rotating sweets. The room is warm, social, and one of the fleet's most broadly appealing dinners. Pasta portions encourage sharing several courses; wines and cocktails cost extra. Service can slow when every table independently discovers that one pasta was not enough.

The Test Kitchen

Part restaurant and part culinary experiment, Test Kitchen builds a multi-course tasting menu around ingredient prompts rather than conventional dish names. Meat-forward and vegetarian menus change by voyage or rotation, with wine, cocktail, beer, or nonalcoholic pairings sold separately. The experience rewards curious eaters and frustrates anyone who wants to order a recognizable main course. It is included, reservation-heavy, time-consuming, and one of the clearest examples of Virgin refusing the main-dining-room model.

The Galley

Virgin's food hall replaces the traditional buffet with counters and table ordering for diner breakfasts, tacos, noodles, sushi, salads, sandwiches, burgers, desserts, coffee, and rotating specials. Food is made or finished in smaller batches, reducing the steam-table effect without eliminating queues or app friction. Some counters operate late and breakfast is flexible. At peak times, finding an open table is still a buffet problem wearing much better furniture.

The Dock and Dock House

The aft Mediterranean lounge serves included mezze, grilled skewers, dips, seafood, vegetables, and small plates from a compact food station, with cocktails and wine sold separately. Outdoor daybeds and wake views make it one of the fleet's best afternoon spaces; the indoor Dock House protects the concept from weather. Food hours are narrower than the lounge's hours and seats become territorial around sunset. Brilliant and recently refreshed ships add menu or staging updates, but the central appeal is still grazing beside the sea.

The Pizza Place

Made-to-order personal pizzas cover classic and creative combinations late into the evening. Pagers allow guests to wait nearby rather than forming a buffet line, and the quality is notably better than standard pool-deck slices. Demand spikes after shows and parties, when the entire adults-only revolution remembers cheese. Pizza is included; packaged drinks and alcohol are not.

Sun Club Café, The Social Club, and Lick Me Till Ice Cream

Sun Club serves bright bowls and rotating Asian-influenced fare near the upper decks; The Social Club provides hot dogs, pretzels, wings or playful comfort snacks near games; the ice-cream counter scoops included flavors and cones. Menus and hours change by ship and climate. Together they fill gaps between reservations without turning the pool deck into one enormous burger operation.

ShipEats

Twenty-four-hour app-based cabin delivery covers breakfast, meals, snacks, and beverages. Virgin may charge a delivery fee unless the order includes a chargeable item, and individual premium products still cost extra. The service is useful after late nights and on balcony mornings but can slow during predictable peaks. Check the current app rules rather than assuming the word included applies to the person carrying it down the corridor.

COSTS EXTRA

Premium menu upgrades

Virgin includes its core restaurant program without specialty-restaurant cover charges, but selected wagyu, seafood towers, caviar, premium brunch items, pairings, and special dishes carry supplements. Prices appear on menus and change. This is à-la-carte temptation, not a required dining package; a guest can eat exceptionally well without purchasing a single upgrade.

Another Rose and ticketed dinner entertainment

Selected ships and voyages offer a paid immersive dinner show or limited culinary events combining performance, food, and drinks. Availability, venue, story, age guidance, menu, and pricing vary, and some Brilliant Lady programming uses its own formats. Book it as entertainment with dinner rather than as proof that ordinary dining is inadequate.

Specialty beverages and tastings

Bar Tab credit, coffee, pressed juices, premium tea, smoothies, alcohol, bottles, tastings, and pairing menus are not made free by Virgin's included-food promise. Prepaid Bar Tab promotions and loyalty benefits differ from a conventional unlimited beverage package. Track the actual balance in the app; marketing language is not a cocktail measure.

BARS

Where to get a drink

On the Rocks

The central cocktail and live-music bar sits near The Roundabout and works as the ship's social living room. Musicians, singers, and Happenings cast events create energy without requiring a nightclub commitment. Seats are scarce before dinner and after shows; refreshed Scarlet and Valiant layouts improve furniture or sightlines. The drinks lean contemporary, and the open location means every passing Sailor joins the atmosphere for at least twelve steps.

Sip Lounge

A Champagne-focused lounge serves bubbles, cocktails, wine, caviar and afternoon tea or special events according to schedule. Velvet seating and a quieter scale make it one of the best couple spaces onboard. Afternoon tea and premium bites cost extra, and private events can close the room. It is elegant without enforcing formal night, which is essentially Virgin's entire thesis in one bar.

The Loose Cannon

The nautical pub near The Social Club pours beer and cocktails and hosts trivia, games, karaoke, or casual gatherings. Its deliberately cluttered sailor-bar design is more playful than polished. It fills quickly when the activity schedule lands there and can be nearly invisible at other times.

Draught Haus

A compact taproom serves draft beer, canned selections, shots, boilermakers, and quick drinks beside The Roundabout. It is convenient for grabbing a beverage before entertainment and too small to function as a major sports bar. Beer fans should check the current taps rather than assuming every advertised craft label survived provisioning.

Aquatic Club Bar and Gym & Tonic

Aquatic Club handles poolside cocktails, frozen drinks, beer and wine; Gym & Tonic adds smoothies, juices, wellness drinks and cocktails near the fitness deck. Brilliant Lady's expanded Juice Sea program brings more transparent protein and recovery options. None solve the fleet's small main-pool footprint, but both reduce the distance between hydration and poor judgment.

Casino bar and Red Room service

The casino area and entertainment venues provide cocktails, beer, wine, and mobile service around gaming and shows. Drinks are individually priced unless covered by Bar Tab or a current benefit. Service becomes congested before major performances and during Scarlet Night. Ordering early is strategy, not personality.

STATEROOMS & SUITES

Choosing where to sleep

Virgin's cabin ladder is refreshingly short and deceptively nuanced. Valiant Lady offers true solo rooms, compact Insiders, porthole Sea Views, hammock-equipped Sea Terraces, larger XL terraces, four RockStar families, and four Mega RockStar families. Smart tablets control lighting, curtains, temperature, and entertainment; rain showers, USB power, storage, and modern materials are standard themes. Beds are firmer than many American travelers expect, and the much-advertised convertible sofa arrangement matters less than mattress comfort, nighttime noise, balcony exposure, and exact location. Always confirm occupancy, obstruction, hammock, accessible configuration, deck noise, and fare restrictions before treating the cabin name as the complete answer.

ROOM FAMILY

Insider

Windowless rooms ranging from true solo cabins to flexible double-occupancy layouts.

Solo Insider

At roughly 105 square feet, the Solo Insider is a genuine one-person cabin with a single bed, compact bathroom, desk or vanity, storage, television, mood lighting, tablet controls, and no exterior view. It avoids paying for an empty second berth, but inventory is limited and the narrow bed is not designed for a surprise roommate. The darkness is excellent, the footprint is unapologetically small, and the location may matter more than the décor on a ship where late-night bass can travel.

Solo InsiderLock It In Insider assignment

Insider cabins

The standard Insider is about 177 square feet for up to two, while Social Insider layouts sleep up to four in bunk-style beds and are designed for friends rather than couples pretending bunk beds are romantic. Cabins include a rain shower, mini-fridge, safe, storage, television, vanity, USB and international outlets, and a tablet controlling lights, curtains, temperature, and entertainment. Lock It In fares surrender cabin selection and may receive a less desirable location. The convertible bed-to-sofa concept exists, but most guests simply ask for the bed and leave the furniture engineering alone.

ROOM FAMILY

Sea View

Fixed-window cabins that add daylight without a private terrace.

Sea View cabins

Solo Sea View cabins add a porthole to a compact one-person room, while standard Sea Views run roughly 130 to 190 square feet and sleep two or, in selected layouts, more. The large round window supplies real daylight without balcony cost; beds, bathrooms, and storage remain efficient rather than generous. These are strong value cabins for cool-weather or port-heavy routes when a terrace may see limited use. Check whether the view is obstructed and whether the room sits near The Manor, Red Room, lifeboats, or service areas before treating every blue square on the plan as identical.

ROOM FAMILY

Sea Terrace

Virgin’s balcony cabins, including XL and view-specific variations with the signature hammock where installed.

Sea Terrace cabins

The signature category provides about 225 square feet including the balcony, usually for two but with selected three- and four-person layouts. Most terraces carry the excellent handwoven red hammock, two chairs, a small table, rain shower, tablet controls, mood presets, flexible bed, refrigerator, safe, and useful storage. Central Sea Terrace costs more for shorter walks and balanced location; Ltd View cabins can face lifeboats or machinery; Lock It In means Virgin chooses. Deck 14 can receive pool-deck and chair noise, very low rooms can sit above nightlife, and the hammock is far more memorable than the firm mattress for many side sleepers.

Ltd View Sea TerraceThe Sea TerraceCentral Sea TerraceSea Terrace for 3 or 4Lock It In Sea Terrace

XL Sea Terrace cabins

At roughly 342 square feet including the balcony, XL cabins materially expand the entry and bathroom, often adding a larger rain shower, separate toilet area, more vanity space, and better circulation around the bed. They normally sleep two and retain the smart-room controls and terrace; hammock provision can vary with balcony hardware and accessible layout. The cabin is a strong couple upgrade when bathroom comfort matters more than suite privileges. It does not include RockStar priority, an in-room bar, Richard's Rooftop, or an agent, so compare the fare with Seriously Suite rather than assuming XL is concierge-lite.

RockStar Quarters

RockStar suites add European king beds, larger showers, record players and vinyl, curated in-room bars, priority booking and boarding benefits, an assigned RockStar Agent, and access to Richard's Rooftop. Seriously Suites are open-plan and efficient; Brilliant Suites add a lounge and larger terrace; Cheeky Corner Suites wrap around aft corners with dramatically different balcony sizes; Sweet Aft Suites face the wake in three size bands. Suite names are not dimensions. Verify the exact subcategory, deck, balcony geometry, noise from aft venues, overhang, wind, and whether the cabin's privileges justify spending several times a Sea Terrace fare.

Mega RockStar Quarters

Mega RockStar adds a dedicated Roadie, expanded priority and service, a premium in-room bar, daily bar-tab provisions under current terms, private transfers within stated limits, pressing, and broad assistance with dining and onboard access. Gorgeous Suites are the entry point; Posh and Fab add major living and terrace space; the Massive Suite has separate sleeping and living areas, a music room, expansive terrace, hot tub, outdoor shower, dining, and room to host. Benefits and included beverage limits change, so read the booked fare's current terms. Even the Massive Suite cannot create a second main pool or make Scarlet Night wait until everyone finishes dinner.

SPECIAL SPACES

What makes this ship distinctive

✦
The 2026 social-space redesign

The Manor's raised platforms are gone, On the Rocks gains a better stage and sightlines, The Dock adds wind protection and staging, The Athletic Club adds shade and ocean-facing daybeds, The Roundabout receives new social groupings, and Grounds Club Too becomes a bar after coffee hours. These are small architectural corrections with large operational effects.

✦
The Red Room

The transformable main performance room can become a raked theater, flat-floor club, runway, or immersive arena. Acrobatics, dance, concerts, comedy, game formats, and ship-specific productions replace the conventional Broadway-revue formula. Sightlines and standing requirements vary dramatically by setup; arrive early and read whether the event expects movement. The flexibility is brilliant when the show works and feels like a warehouse with ambition when it does not.

✦
The Manor

A mirrored entrance leads to a two-level nightclub and performance venue inspired by Richard Branson's first recording studio. DJs, drag, cabaret, comedy, dance parties, and immersive events use the room late into the night. Valiant's 2026 redesign removed raised platforms for a larger dance floor. Cabaret seating is limited, bass reaches nearby cabins, and the club's success depends on the sailing's willingness to stay awake.

✦
Scarlet Night and the Happenings Cast

Scarlet Night spreads red-clad performances, pop-up encounters, music, dancing, and a late pool-deck climax across the ship. The Happenings Cast replaces one cruise director with personalities leading fitness, art, food, games, parties, and social events. Participation can be as intense or observational as desired, but wearing red and leaving dinner space in the schedule improve the experience. Weather may move or change the pool-deck finale.

✦
The Aquatic Club and Well-being Pool

The central pool is deliberately shallow and stylish, surrounded by loungers, daybeds, a bar, and a separate circular well-being pool. It functions more as a social cooling basin than a place to swim. On warm sea days it is the fleet's most obvious design weakness: too little water and too few prime seats for the passenger count. Bookable cabanas on refreshed Scarlet and revised shade on newer ships help people with money, not geometry.

✦
The Athletic Club and outdoor fitness

A red running track, boxing ring, basketball court, training zone, daybeds, oversized net, and ocean-facing workout spaces turn the stern into an adult recreation deck. Free group classes are a meaningful inclusion, though prime sessions book quickly. Valiant and Brilliant add improved shade and seating. Wind, rain, and Alaska temperatures decide whether the outdoor equipment is inspirational or modern sculpture.

✦
B-Complex and Redemption Spa

The large fitness center separates cardio, weights, cycling, and studio classes; Redemption Spa adds treatments, salon, barbering, thermal suite, mud room, salt room, sauna, cold plunge, and heated surfaces. Fitness classes are generally included, while treatments and thermal access cost extra. Spa sales exist but are less relentless than some mainstream lines. The gym is excellent; the jogging track's tight curves remain a personal attack on ankles.

✦
Richard's Rooftop

RockStar and Mega RockStar guests receive access to a private forward outdoor lounge with daybeds, bar service during selected hours, and hosted happy-hour drinks under current terms. It is a useful escape from the main pool and a tangible suite benefit in warm weather. Wind, cold, rain, and limited shade can reduce its value, especially in Alaska; it is exclusive, not climate-controlled.

✦
Squid Ink

The onboard tattoo and piercing studio books licensed artists for permanent souvenirs. Consultations, deposits, placement rules, aftercare, pricing, and artist availability apply; appointments can fill before guests have processed that this is a ship. The space is clean and professionally operated, but sun, pools, alcohol, and fresh tattoos are famously incompatible roommates.

✦
Casino and Sea Rollers

The non-smoking casino offers slots, table games, and rated play through Sea Rollers. It is compact compared with casino-forward mainstream ships and can be expanded or adjusted by vessel. Tier and offer rules change, so players should have the current program linked before play and confirm whether points, free play, or future-voyage benefits apply. The absence of indoor smoking is a major quality-of-life advantage.

✦
No children

Every Virgin Voyages sailing is restricted to guests 18 and older. There are no children's clubs, nursery, family splash areas, teen lounges, or child fares. Adult children can travel with parents and multigenerational groups can work beautifully once everyone is 18; families with minors cannot solve this through optimistic packing.
