Getting from the airport to your hotel
The airport, hotels, and port are close together
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is only 1.8 miles from Port Everglades, and the recommended cruise hotels are generally a short ride from both. Collect every checked bag before arranging transportation.
With cruise luggage, a rideshare or taxi is usually the simplest option. Use the hotel’s full street address, follow the airport’s marked pickup instructions, and confirm the vehicle before loading bags.
Plan for a longer I-95 transfer
Miami International Airport is about 27 miles south of Port Everglades. The road trip is often 35–50 minutes when traffic cooperates, but weekday congestion can push it well beyond an hour.
Palm Beach International Airport is about 50 miles north. The drive is commonly 50–75 minutes before allowing for baggage collection, arranging the ride, and traffic.
Embarkation day
Getting from the airport directly to the port
The port is about 10 minutes away once moving
After collecting every checked bag, follow the airport signs to the taxi or rideshare pickup area and enter both Port Everglades and the ship name as the destination. Airport pickup congestion and the port security checkpoint add time beyond the short drive.
Have cruise documents and government-issued photo identification ready before the vehicle reaches the port entrance. Security checks the documents before admitting the vehicle, and officers may inspect the trunk.
Leave a generous buffer for I-95
MIA is about 27 miles south, while PBI is about 50 miles north. A direct rideshare, taxi, private transfer, or cruise-line transfer can work, but traffic can change the trip sharply.
Arriving on embarkation morning leaves little room for a delayed flight, baggage problem, or road disruption. An overnight stay remains the safer plan.
Flying home
From the ship to the airport
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
FLL is 1.8 miles from the port, and the road trip can be about 10 minutes after the passenger is outside, has luggage, and is inside a vehicle.
- Comfortable domestic flight: 11:30 a.m. or later.
- For an 11:00–11:30 flight: use self-assist luggage and aim to walk off by 7:30–8:00 a.m.
- For noon or later: standard luggage tags are usually reasonable, but avoid the final departure group.
- Airport timing: FLL may not accept checked luggage more than two hours before the scheduled flight.
Miami International Airport (MIA)
MIA is about 27 miles south. The drive is often 35–50 minutes in lighter traffic, but I-95 congestion can push it well beyond an hour.
- Comfortable domestic flight: 1 p.m. or later.
- Exit plan: aim to leave the ship by 8 a.m.
- Add margin for: checked bags, international flights, weekdays, and holidays.
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI)
PBI is about 50 miles north. The road journey is commonly 50–75 minutes before allowing for port pickup and airport procedures.
- Comfortable domestic flight: 2 p.m. or later.
- Exit plan: leave by 8 a.m. and expect weekday variation.
- Best fit: a later flight with enough room to absorb I-95 traffic.
Driving and parking
Driving to and parking at Port Everglades
Follow the current ship signs
I-95 provides regional access. Port Everglades has multiple secured entrances, so know your terminal and carry cruise documents.
Use the navigation address for the correct facility, then follow electronic and temporary signs once inside the port. Terminal assignments and traffic patterns can change between sailings.
Check the port’s current parking plan
Review the official parking map, daily rate, accepted payment methods, height restrictions, oversized-vehicle rules, and accessibility procedures shortly before travel. Reserve in advance when the port requires or offers reservations.
Keep passports, medication, electronics, valuables, and anything needed before cabins open in a carry-on that does not leave with the checked luggage.
